CONCEPT 02
I decided to go against this design because of how difficult it would be to create thin slots out of the MDF, and because of the awkward gaps left by the negative space.
I picked this design because of its organic shape, and how nicely the curves fit together. But I went back and rounded the corners more consistently, and chose the almond shape as a guide for all the other modules.

DESIGN OBJECTIVES
SKETCHES & INITIAL CONCEPT
PAPER PROTOTYPE
I started by sketching the shape on a piece of wood, then used a bandsaw to get close to the shape. Finally, I sanded down the 10 degree draft angle using an oscillating spindle sander.
MDF Mold
I decided to create a positive mold out of lightweight MDF, since there were curves in my design. To start, I sketched out a grid with my measurements and used a compass to draw the circles.
Vacuum Forming
I originally made a two-part mold because I thought we were strictly lim-ited 7x8” but I realized I accidentally had an undercut. So, I placed the two molds together before vacuum forming.
